Text:
The election of a new Pope apparently will set up an interesting meeting between the new Pope Francis, formerly Archbishop Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina, and Vice President Joe Biden, who finds no conflict between his professed Catholic faith and his advocacy of abortion, something Pope Francis has called the “Death Penalty for the Unborn”.

As a leader of Argentinian Catholics, Bergoglio helped steer the church away from essentially Marxism in the form of liberation theology. Liberation theology happens to be a linchpin in the thinking of Catholics who accept abortion as something moral.  He has been seen as a ‘compassionate conservative’ and has shown an aptitude in bridging large philosophical divides.  In Argentina he worked with Catholics and other Christians of Eastern traditions and even his name Francis, chosen in honor of the 11th century Catholic Saint, is an interesting choice for a Jesuit intellectual.

Abby Johnson is taking heat from the abortion industry for her work in helping abortion clinic workers do what she did and quit their jobs.  She calls her work, “And Then There Were None”.

In other news, a party line vote in the U.S. Senate quickly sank the hopes of Senator Ted Cruz of Texas and rejected his attempt to defund ObamaCare for this fiscal year. And a healthy baby boy has been born after another fascinating heart surgery on the child at 23-weeks gestation.

Text:
When radicalized proponents of abortion speak of violence against women to support their world view that abortion protects women, they rely on a study from a World Bank report originally released nearly twenty years ago.  A report at LifeNews on the UN Commission on the Status of Women tries to offer a balanced look at why so many statistics used by abortion advocates are at least misleading.  Another report laments how many gathering at the UN last week ignored the violence done to women in abortion.

The UN Commission on the Status of Women heard repeatedly from Reggie Littlejohn last week on the issue of gender selection abortions and government policies that promote such gendercide.  In China, where much of her work is done, a preference for sons coupled with China’s one child policy creates a gender imbalance driving human trafficking and sex slavery.

In other news… Excluding weekends and holidays, South Dakota’s new abortion waiting period of 72 hours makes it the longest waiting period for an abortion in the nation.  And New Hampshire is considering a bill redefining hydration and nutrition and state law that could okay the gruesome process of dehydrating disabled patients to death.

Text:
The horrific case involving Kermit Gosnell and eight counts of murder related to abortion will not have any potential jurors who profess being pro-life.  Six potential jurors who expressed religious, ethical or moral qualms about abortion or the death penalty have been dismissed.

72 members of Congress are asking the Government Accountability Office for information about government money possibly being funneled to Planned Parenthood.  This request follows up on a 2010 GAO report on Planned Parenthood funding that raised more questions than it answered.

The Fourth Circuit Court is quickly becoming one of the next battle grounds against the HHS mandate.  A new amicus brief by a broad range of religious and political legal groups says that ObamaCare’s employer mandate has become the “bludgeon” with which the government feels empowered to cripple the consciences of employers who may take religious exception to paying for the fuzzy collection of contraceptive agents including abortifacient drugs.

Other stories at LifeNews include details of another botched abortion that a Colorado abortion business may be trying to hide, and a UN agreement on violence against women may be scuttled because some member nations are refusing the agenda of abortion advocates.

Text:
As details of the woman who died an abortion-related death come forward, attention is being brought to the issue of women pressured to abort disabled babies.  Jennifer Morbelli and her husband were looking forward to the birth of their baby girl when doctors discovered problems with the baby’s brain.  The couple traveled from New York to the late-term abortion clinic of LeRoy Carhart in Maryland. An autopsy released shows the 33 year old teacher died of an amniotic embolism and widespread coagulation.

Other aspects of a state investigation include personal patient documents and other waste that may have been disposed of illegally.  Some of the documents and references to protocols seem to call into question the care received at Carhart’s clinic.  Tragically adding suspicions, some former employees of the abortionist say he frequently broke state health and medical laws in his Nebraska abortion business.

New curriculum touted by Planned Parenthood uses an interesting definition of abstinence.  Abstinence in this curriculum refers not to abstinence but strictly to unprotected sex.
And a vote is scheduled in the Washington State House to require all insurance policies covering maternity to also pay for abortions.  Debate begins at 9 AM Friday in Olympia.

Text:
Former Kansas Governor and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sibelius may have significant ties to late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart.  As governor, Operation Rescue says she successfully turned back laws to regulate businesses like Dr. Carhart’s Kansas operations.  They are concerned that she may do the same with the investigation into the death of Jennifer McKenna Morbelli.  In related news, Operation Rescue has found evidence that Morbelli may have been told not to visit an emergency room.

Earlier this week, in his counter to the state of the union address by President Obama, Senator Marco Rubio articulated how the human person is an asset to a nation.  He has now gone a step further, introducing to the U.S. Senate the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act that would stop secret interstate abortions on teenagers, notifying parents and criminalizing the transport of a minor across state lines to evade state parental notification laws.

In other news, A new survey makes a direct correlation between someone’s view regarding premarital sex and whether or not they are pro-abortion.  And a new report from the CDC finds more women are using the radical hormone overdose known as the morning after pill; now about 11% of all women have used it.

20130213 LifeNews Radio Investigating Carhart-Protecting Conscience-Abortion Coercion-40Days Kickoff

Text:
While local officials investigate the death of Jennifer McKenna Morbelli, the Maryland Attorney General’s office has opened an investigation into late-term abortion practitioner LeRoy Carhart whose botched abortion killed the 29-year-old teacher last week.  Another woman, Christin Gilbert, died eight years ago in Kansas after another botched abortion by LeRoy Carhart.

Medical personnel at New York’s Mount Sinai Hospital were being forced to take part in abortions before ADF attorneys took their case.  A newly completed HHS investigation has resulted in policy and procedure changes to ensure that medical personnel are not forced to participate in abortions.

The Elliot Institute says at least half of all abortions are coerced.  Reinforcing that statistic is a story from Texas where a pregnant teenager who wants to keep her child is suing her parents to stop them from making her have an abortion.

40 Days for Life kicks off Wednesday.  Abortion clinics generally have a distinct downturn in business when people are outside their businesses praying.  One Planned Parenthood in Arizona plans to extend its hours 40%.

20130212 LifeNews Radio Abortion Investigation-Benedict-Gosnell Trial-Arkansas Ban-Forcing Arizona-Refusing CPR
Last week’s fatal abortion at Leroy Carhart’s abortion business in Germantown near Washington DC is being investigated.  While there seems to be no overt criminality, the tragedy of late-term abortion will likely take front stage.  Jennifer Morbelli was 29 years old.

The health concerns of Pope Benedict and the end of his term as the Bishop of Rome to enter a life of prayer may be interesting.  But nothing is as interesting as how this man with great intellect clearly and repeatedly articulated Christian and even secular concerns over issues like abortion, assisted suicide, euthanasia and other bioethics topics.

Other stories at Life News-dot-com include an update on Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia-based abortion Doctor who is facing murder charges in the deaths of seven babies.  Pro-lifers in Ireland are having to fight grossly distorted polls painting a rosy picture of abortion opinion there.

And in state news, Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe signed a ban on abortion funding in ObamaCare and a judge is forcing Arizona to fund Planned Parenthood despite legislative action there.  Also, a measure in the Texas legislature is under fire: a national pro-life group says it would allow doctors the right to refuse giving CPR to patients.

A leading black advocacy group has threatened to sue life news.com and black pro-life leader Ryan Bomberger, a blogger at Life News.com.  A recent column was entitled, “National Association for the Abortion of Colored People” and took the civil rights organization to task over its abortion position.

In a videotaped address to the pro-abortion group NARAL, President Barack Obama said that he celebrates the Roe V Wade decision, ignoring its 55 million abortions. According to a Politico report, Obama thanked outgoing NARAL president Nancy Keenan, calling the abortion activist  “a friend and counselor to me and my administration.”

The shooter in last August’s attack on the Family Research Council Headquarters pled guilty in Washington DC to three charges Wednesday.  Prosecutors said that investigators examined the assailant’s computer and found that he used a liberal website to identify or select his target.

Archbishop Charles Chaput of Philadelphia is taking to task the proposed revisions to the controversial HHS mandate forcing religious groups and people of conscience in business to pay for anything that interdicts parenthood and childbearing.  And YouTube now has the famous interview with Mother Teresa of Calcutta where she maintained that abortion is the “greatest threat to peace in the world”.
