The Arkansas bill that would ban abortions after heartbeat could be detected has been vetoed by Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe.  Because pregnancy is not typically detected until after a child has a beating heart, critics of the legislation say it was essentially an attempt to ban all abortions and would entrench abortion rights if the bill were seen as attacking Roe V Wade surreptitiously.  A veto fight is expected.

Beebe did sign legislation giving mothers legal protection when being threatened during their pregnancy. Studies like a March of Dimes study show high violence rates during pregnancy.  That study showed one in six pregnant women has been abused by a partner.  The Pregnant Woman’s Protection Act is intended to ensure that a pregnant woman and her child are protected from unlawful criminal violence and that a woman’s decision to carry her child to term is protected.

In other news, Oregon Right to Life has produced a simple video demonstrating how many abortions have taken place in the 40 years since Roe V Wade.  The video is posted at the National Right to Life website, NRLC dot org.

Text:
Former Kansas Governor and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sibelius may have significant ties to late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart.  As governor, Operation Rescue says she successfully turned back laws to regulate businesses like Dr. Carhart’s Kansas operations.  They are concerned that she may do the same with the investigation into the death of Jennifer McKenna Morbelli.  In related news, Operation Rescue has found evidence that Morbelli may have been told not to visit an emergency room.

Earlier this week, in his counter to the state of the union address by President Obama, Senator Marco Rubio articulated how the human person is an asset to a nation.  He has now gone a step further, introducing to the U.S. Senate the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act that would stop secret interstate abortions on teenagers, notifying parents and criminalizing the transport of a minor across state lines to evade state parental notification laws.

In other news, A new survey makes a direct correlation between someone’s view regarding premarital sex and whether or not they are pro-abortion.  And a new report from the CDC finds more women are using the radical hormone overdose known as the morning after pill; now about 11% of all women have used it.

Operation Rescue Wants Medical Review Added to Criminal Investigation of LeRoy Carhart, Two Clinic Closings Connected with 40 Days for Life, New York Poll Yields Strong Pro-Life Results

Text:
Operation Rescue is speaking out in the case of the New York woman who died in Maryland in a botched late-term abortion.  They say if the Maryland hospital does not file a complaint with the state medical board, they will file suit in order to bring medical scrutiny to the work of abortionist Doctor LeRoy Carhart.  There is an ongoing criminal investigation by the state attorney general in Maryland related to Carhart’s operation in that state.

As the next 40 Days for Life gets underway, one prayer demonstration in Greensboro North Carolina had to be canceled because the abortion business, faced with another round of legal prayer and vigil outside their doors, closed their doors permanently.  ||
Lima Ohio was the site of another recent abortion clinic closing.

A recent poll of New York voters should be giving its governor headaches.  Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York wants to get rid of all pro-life laws in his state and promote late-term abortions, so Cuomo has proposed to the legislature a so-called “Reproductive Choice Act”.  The in-depth McLaughlin poll paid for by the Chiaroscuro Foundation shows support for the governor’s position well below 20 percent, over 60 percent strongly disagreed with his ideas.

Tragic Death of New York Teacher, Media Outlets Ignore Late-Term Abortion Death, Washington State May Be Turning Tide on Abortion

Listen here for LifeNews Radio for February 11, 2013:
20130211 LifeNews Radio Tragic Death-Media Ignores-Washington State Bills

A 29-year-old woman and her husband discovered that their pre-born child was suffering some anomalies, so they traveled to the clinic of Leroy Carhart near Washington DC and four days later both mother and child were dead.  Family members told the hospital that abortionist Doctor Carhart failed to respond to their urgent phone calls.  Troy Newman of Operation Rescue said, “The avoidable death of this young woman dramatically illustrates the dangers of third trimester abortions that are done outside of the safety of obstetrical standards.” The mother was a kindergarten teacher from New York State.  Details are at LifeNews–dot–com.

Major media outlets are avoiding not only the tragic details of this story, but the apparently dangerous practice of late-term abortions.  Despite offering a news conference in the Washington DC area detailing the situation, only one newspaper sent a reporter to get the news. There was… no Washington Post, Baltimore Sun, and no coverage from the networks or AP.

From the state was first to legalize abortion in the US, comes news that activists may be turning the tide.  While one bill lingers near death in Washington State that would force all maternity health care coverage plans to also pay for abortion, another bill requiring parental notification before abortion is bringing large pro-life crowds to the state capital in Olympia in support of the pro-life measure.

January 22, 2012 President Obama Record on Abortion, Inaugural Motorcade Confronts Graphic Images, Closed Abortion Clinics, Botched Abortion, Irish Pro-Life Rally

20130122 LifeNews Radio Abortion Record-Confront Victims-Clinic Closings-Ireland Rally

On the occasion of the president’s inauguration to a second term, pro-life groups say President Obama brings a stark contrast to a second term: a large pro-abortion record and a small approval rating.  Gallup polling finds the president’s first-term approval rating is the lowest of any post-World War II president.

The president’s motorcade was forced to confront pictures of babies victimized by abortion.  The exposure of graphic images was arranged by Created Equal.

On the 40th anniversary of the Roe V Wade decision legalizing all abortion, pro-lifers can celebrate the closure of 1500 abortion clinics over the past 22 years.  There were nearly 2200 abortion clinics in 1991; now there are less than 700 and that number is falling.

Nevertheless, a St. Louis Planned Parenthood abortion business had its fourth botched abortion in recent weeks.  As pro-life advocates tried to document the injuries, clinic staffers attempted to conceal matters.

Over the weekend, what has been billed as the largest pro-life rally in the history of Ireland took place as more than 30,000 pro-life people gathered to hold political leaders accountable for pledging to oppose abortion.
